In 1964, John Stormer, a right-wing political hack, wrote a controversial book titled None Dare Call It Treason. The book became a bestseller and is considered a defining work of American anti-communist literature from that era and a cultural artifact of its time. It reflected Cold War fears and the attendant conservative backlash. The problem though, was the book lacked academic credibility, nonetheless, it played a notable role in shaping mid-20th-century right-wing thought. If you’re studying political movements, media influence, or Cold War psychology, it offers insight into a specific worldview, but should be read with a critical eye. Nonetheless, Stormer’s work amplified fears prevalent during the height of the Cold War.
Treason is a very powerful word, which I suppose is why Stormer included it in his title. So, today, I’m using Stormers book as an example of an ideology gone off the rails. But the biggest difference between Stormer’s book and today’s Left is that the issues our nation faces today aren’t a matter of debate, nor are they predicated on conspiracy theories – they are front and center and staring us in the face and affecting our daily lives. 15,000,000 illegal and unvetted immigrants, out of control government spending, and two wars. There’s nothing hypothetical about any of these matters and no one questions that each presents an existential threat to our way of life.
Illegal Immigration ~
Nonetheless, just like Stormer 60 years ago, today’s Democrat Party has made politics a zero-sum game. For example, how did Barack Obama manage to deport 3 million illegal aliens during his two terms without activist organizations, democrat mayors and U.S. Senators wailing about the lack of humane treatment and due process for these “victims?” How did Bill Clinton fire 400,000 federal workers without an injunction stopping him? Have the democrats somehow forgotten that? Why is every Trump deportation order and every cost-cutting measure by DOGE met with an injunction?
It couldn’t possibly be Trump Derangement Symptom, could it? Shouldn’t the Democrat Party want the president to successfully deal with the 15 million illegal and unvetted aliens who are here; many of whom are criminals both here and in their own countries. And shouldn’t they want to eliminate waste and fraud government? But the democrats would have us believe every penny of a $6,400,000,000,000 budget is absolutely essential spending – even if it’s to fund a study of transgender white mice in Burma.
~ The Debt & Deficit ~
Our nation’s fiscal situation is analogous to a family with $100,000 of income carrying $600,000 of credit card debt, adding and additional $30,000 to the debt each year, yet only making minimum monthly payments, which begs the question, “At that rate, how long will it take this family to pay off its debt?” The answer is…drum roll please… NEVER!
And that’s not speculation; it’s a mathematical certainty. Now I’m not smart enough to understand all the ramifications of such monetary recklessness because no nation in history has ever been as fiscally irresponsible as the USA has been in the 21st century, but one thing is certain, the ramifications and consequences will be as socially and economically severe as anything this nation has ever endured. Yet the democrats squeal like pigs at every recommendation Elon Musk and his DOGE team has made.
What is it about a $36,200,000,000,000 debt the democrats don’t understand? They told us “Trump should leave this to the Inspectors General that he fired immediately after taking office.” Those Inspectors General were responsible for oversight in departments such as Defense, State, and Interior. But did the democrats ever consider if these IG’s had actually done their jobs perhaps we wouldn’t be $36.2 trillion in debt, and the Department of Health and Human Services wouldn’t need 27 Chief Information Officers or the Defense Department might actually pass a financial audit, something it has never done?
~ War ~
The democrats criticize Donald Trump about the Ukraine War but offer no solutions. They’ve been quick to introduce feckless and unenforceable resolutions condemning the Russian invasion and Putin’s war crimes, but resolutions are little more than virtue-signaling and hoping for the best. Perhaps the democrats on the intelligence committee should have encouraged President Biden to pick up the phone and actually engage with Vladimir Putin when they were in power. And to listen to the democrats, one might think the current world instability started with Trump. It didn’t, both Ukraine and Gaza began on the democrats’ watch – but you’d never know it to listen to them.
These are issues that imperil us all, yet the Left has gone beyond criticizing, condemning and complaining about every action Trump takes to redress these matters and is now doing is best to impede him at every turn. No, democrat actions don’t rise to the level of treason, but I keep searching for a word that fits the moment, and the one I’ve come up with is “betrayal” i.e., the act of being disloyal or unfaithful, and in the case of the democrats in congress, their intentional disregard to faithfully execute the duties they swore to fulfill constitute an act of betrayal to the American public.
Quotes of the day: When Albert Einstein met Charlie Chaplin, the conversation began like this…Einstein: “What I admire most about your art is that it is universal. You don’t say a word, and yet the world understands you”. Chaplin: “That is true, but your fame is even greater: the world admires you, while no one understands you
