  • Christmas occurs on the 358th day of the 12th month of the year (except leap year when it occurs on 359th) New Year’s occurs on the 1st day of the 1st month of the year – why then do we always think Christmas comes before New Year’s?
  • And speaking of the holidays, is there any greater contrast during the year than between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve?
  • The closest thing we have to Star Trek’s (Next Gen) 24th century’s replicators is the 21st century’s Amazon delivery.
  • Here’s a great tip for a lasting marriage: two times a week couples should go to a nice restaurant, have a little wine and some good food and conversation; the wife should go on Tuesdays and the husband on Fridays. 😊
  • There’s both good and bad news about relationships; the good news is that there are only three rules for successful relationships between men and women; the bad news is that I haven’t found anyone willing to tell me what they are.
  • Have you ever noticed when singing along to a favorite tune on your car radio how often the artist gets the second verse wrong?
  • Winners take a big problem and separate it into smaller parts; losers take a lot of little problems and roll them all together until they are unsolvable.
  • Usain Bolt reached a top speed of 27.8 mph between the 60 and 80-meter marks — the fastest recorded for any human in open competition. Meanwhile, a 3-ton rhinoceros entered in the same race would beat Bolt to the finish line.
  • And speaking of fast animals, technically speaking, elephants can’t run in the biomechanical sense (they always keep at least one foot on the ground), but they can “power walk” at 25 MPH!
  • A Hoosier is simply a native or resident of the state of Indiana, but most interestingly, no one seems to know exactly where the moniker originated.
  • When asked how he came up with the name James Bond as a name for his secret agent 007, Ian Fleming said he thought that considering the profession a bland or common name was appropriate. And if you really think about it, can you imagine a spy working for MI6 or the CIA with a name like Indiana or Sherlock?
  • Ever notice how our culture values honesty, except in bios and job applications?
  • Life would be so much simpler if people just kept their agreements.
  • My wife and I tried a new restaurant the other day – the food wasn’t very good, which was disappointing, but at least the portions were small.
  • Why does “Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is,” still resonate with older Americans even though that Alka Seltzer ad hasn’t been seen on TV in 50 years?
  • Wouldn’t it be great if all our primary schools taught young people how to maintain a positive attitude, to believe in their individual importance, how to make wise choices, build positive habits, engage in creative thinking, and the value of persistence?
  • Asian Americans are the most prosperous minorities in America – I’m betting that has something to do with their focus on education, hard work and family cohesion.
  • Insight without action is just another form of entertainment.
  • Einstein’s Theory of Relativity contains no words, just 5 characters, The Lord’s Prayer 66 words, The 10 Commandments 179 words and the Gettysburg Address, 286 words. Think about it.
  • Nothing we wear makes as much difference as the expression on our faces.
