The Founders gave us and the world a unique gift, i.e., a form of government that has brought more opportunity, more freedom and has improved the quality of life for more people than any nation in history.  And the further we deviate from the Founders’ vision, the poorer our country becomes; and I don’t necessarily mean fiscally, I think we become poorer spiritually and morally as well.  And while I do not agree with Trump on every issue, I believe his America first agenda more closely approximates the Founders’ vision than does current progressive ideology

Before I go further, let me be clear, I am not a Trump fan, per se, I wish he brought more dignity to the White House, but I am a pragmatist, and by almost any measure, the United States and the world-at-large was a safer, more prosperous and a more peaceful place after four years of Donald Trump & Mike Pence, than it is now under Joe Biden & Kamala Harris.

When Ronald Reagan first ran for the presidency he asked America a simple question, “Are you better off today than you were four years ago?” and he won the election.  And if Americans are honest with themselves, they will ask and answer that same question, and Trump should win in November.

Unfortunately, reason, logic, and the results of policy no longer take center stage in American politics, ideology does.  And in this election, the Left along with a complicit media are driven by unbridled hatred, compelling me to ask, where does this hatred come from?  What is its genesis?

Meanwhile, I have a very dear friend from college who served in the Army’s Special Forces and who was awarded a Silver Star, a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts in Vietnam; he’s intelligent, well-read, and as patriotic as anyone I know – and is an off the rails Trump hater.  Recently he sent an email to all the Viet vets in our old fraternity – the following are excerpts.

“This week, Trump had the unmitigated gall, stupidity or on-going dementia to claim that the Presidential Medal of Freedom is a “much higher” award than the Congressional Medal of Honor. Why? Because as he stated, MoH recipients often die or are severely wounded in combat”of course there was nothing to support his accusation.

“Asked to visit an American cemetery while in France for a NATO meeting, Trump rejected the idea of the visit because he feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain, and because he did not believe it important to honor American war dead, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day.”  How did he know that Trump ‘feared’ his hair would be mussed?

“In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery?  It’s filled with losers.”  But no mention of who the senior staff member was so the accusations could be verified.

In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed.”  Again, where’s the hard evidence?  Now this one goes beyond the pale.  Common sense dictates that James Mattis, a Marine four-star general, would have never accepted the position as Trump’s Secretary of Defense had Trump made such a statement – c’mon, let’s get real here.

“Virtually every senior military officer who served in his administration (Kelly, Mathis, (Mattis actually) McMasters, et al) after leaving said he was unfit to serve as president.”  Trump parted with all three for various reasons but allow me to ask is Trump unfit to serve as president compared to Joe Biden who ordered the most humiliating and shameful withdrawal of American troops in history, or Kamala Harris who has no military experience whatsoever and “was the last person in the room,” when Joe made the decision that cost the lives of 12 Marines and a Navy corpsman?”

So again, I’m compelled to ask, where do people get all their half-truths, falsehoods, and misinformation?  And why do they believe them unquestioningly?  Never in the history of our country has a president been so reviled and so persecuted as Donald J. Trump – even Lincoln didn’t incur as much ire and bile.  As I said at the top of this post, by almost any measure, the United States and the world was better off four years ago than it is today, so, my question remains, what has Donald Trump ever done to provoke such enmity?  What horrible thing did he do to the country?  January 6th – c’mon 1,000 unarmed protestors, many of whom were let in the building by the Capitol police – so again, I ask, what is at the root of this vitriol and hatred coming from the progressive Left?

The Left tells us he’s a threat to democracy – what b.s.!  I guess the weaponization of the DOJ, two phony impeachments and unceremoniously ushering out a sitting president while “awarding” the nomination to Harris when she did not get a single primary vote is what the Founders had in mind – yeah right!

I realize this was a long post, but I had to get this off my chest.  And it should disturb all Americans that this election will be decided not upon policy or results or putting America’s interests first, but upon the ugliest of all emotions, hatred.
