Embarrassment

Embarrassment is a painful but important emotional state.  Most researchers believe that the purpose of embarrassment is to make people feel badly about their social or personal mistakes as a form of internal (or societal) feedback, so that they learn not to repeat the error.  And vis-à-vis what America is currently witnessing one would think the democrats would be well beyond embarrassment – they should be mortified and ashamed of themselves.  But there hasn’t been one iota of contrition coming from the left.

Al Green, the U.S. representative from Texas’ 9th district, embarrassed himself, his party and the U.S. Congress by violating (18 U.S.C. § 1505) the law that makes it illegal to obstruct or impede proceedings before Congress when he heckled the president during his March 4th address to congress, that incidentally was televised around the world.  And instead of presenting himself like man to receive his punishment, i.e., being chastised in the well of the House of Representatives by the Speaker, a group of democrat lawmakers gathered around him and sang “We shall overcome,”—not quite a John F. Kennedy “Profiles in Courage” moment.

During the president’s address democrats couldn’t even stand to cheer a 13-year-old cancer survivor; a young boy diagnosed with brain cancer, given five months to live, who underwent six brain surgeries, then, not only fulfils his dream of becoming an honorary police officer but also becomes an honorary secret service agent in front of the entire country.  What is it about the democrats that they have become so partisan that they cannot all rally around a cancer surviving 13-year-old having his lifelong wish come true?

Nor did they stand and applaud when President Trump announced the capture of  Mohammad Sharifullah, the senior ISIS commander who orchestrated the 2021 Abbey Gate bombing during the humiliating U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.  An attack that resulted in the murder of 13 U.S. service members and approximately 170 Afghan civilians.  So we capture the man responsible and the democrats sit on their hands or wave tiny placards while the republicans cheer – you can’t make this stuff up folks.

Just the day prior, to the president’s address, the U.S. Senate failed to advance the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, a bill aimed at prohibiting transgender women and girls from participating in female sports teams.  The motion to invoke cloture, which would have ended debate and moved the bill forward, garnered 51 votes in favor—all from Republican senators—falling short of the 60 votes required to overcome a filibuster – not a single democrat voted for the bill in spite of the fact that recent polling by the New York Times/Ipsos poll revealed that 79% of respondents support banning transgender athletes from women’s sports- what are these people thinking?  But then, perhaps they’re NOT thinking at all.

A 13-year-old cancer survivor and the capture of a terrorist who killed 12 U.S. Marines and a Navy corpsman gets no recognition from the democrats?  But why should be we surprised about anything from a party that lied, lied and lied to the nation and the world that an addled Joe Biden was fit to serve.

Trump announces that the U.S. – Mexican border had the fewest illegal crossings since we began keeping records of such things, this vis-à-vis the democrats’ inaction at the border that allowed more than 12,000,000 illegal aliens into the country during Biden’s term in office and not a single democrat applauds?  Do they believe allowing criminal illegal aliens to roam free is good for the country?

They criticize DOGE at every turn while they had four years to cut out waste, fraud and abuse and did absolutely nothing except increase both our debt and deficit, which will put the nation on life support if this is not addressed.

We are $36.5 trillion in debt and the democrats will find the slightest error, oversight or miscalculation to scream how this constituency or that is being forsaken by the Trump administration calling him cruel and heartless.  How detached from reality can one party be?  It was four years of democrat spending that caused the inflation and the rising prices the nation has experienced.  And even the dullest of dullards understands that it’s impossible to turn around the largest economy on earth in forty-five days when it took the democrats four years to devastate it.

Even, Senator John Fetterman, D-Pa., hardly a conservative, called out his party the day after President Trump’s address before a joint session of Congress, warning that the Democrats are becoming like a blaring car alarm that people ignore.  For some inexplicable reason, the democrats simply won’t let go of progressive policies that just cost them the House, the Senate and the Oval Office.  I’m not a pollster, but if the democrats don’t shift on these issues and begin working with, instead of against the president, they could lose even more voters come the 2026 midterms.   But they seem to feel that Trump Derangement Syndrome will matter more by Election Day in 2026.
