What Country is This?

The other day I received an email from a friend with an attached Tik Tok video of a young woman highlighting a few of the absurdities that have become a part of 21^st century life in the United States.

Taking my cue from this very incisive woman I wanted to add my two cents to her comments.  So, allow me to begin by stating I am 77- years old and cannot think of another generation in the history of mankind that has been more fortunate than those of us born in the United States at the end of World War II.

Yes, we’ve experienced war (Korea, Vietnam, Iraq) economic downturns and recessions, epidemics such as the Hong Kong flu and COVID 19, natural disasters i.e., Hurricane Katrina and many other vicissitudes of life, but then no one ever said life was supposed to be easy.  Yes, we’ve had our challenges, but my generation has never experienced calamities such as famine, pestilence, diaspora, the horror, and carnage caused by an invading army or been forced to live under the iron fist of a Stalin.

So, when I see what the progressive Left is trying to do to this country (and in very many ways succeeding) it hits me in the gut like being whacked with a baseball bat.  I don’t expect a carefree existence but talk about killing the goose that lays the golden eggs, that’s exactly what the Left is doing.  Doubt that, let’s look at some of the absurdity, or rather, the insanity the Left with its lapdog media serves up to us every single day.

It’s no secret the tone and tenor of politics in this country are no longer one of disagreement, debate, and discussion; rather, the Left would rather cancel those they disagree with such as Mike Lindell the “pillow guy” who posted on Twitter that he disagreed with the CDC’s mask policy and was subsequently ‘cancelled’ for expressing an opinion, while the likes of Louis Farrakhan and the Ayatollah Khamenei spew their hate and bile.

Subjects that were open for discussion are now verboten even with family members and (former) friends whom I’ve known for years.  In today’s world, it’s no longer a matter of agreeing to disagree, rather it’s become a matter of not even broaching certain subjects.

In one of the most obvious examples of this insanity, today if a guy pretends to be a woman, “woke culture,” demands we pretend with him.  I’ve even read where schools have disciplined children as young as the first grade for using the “wrong” pronoun when addressing of their classmates.  Kind of makes me wonder if school districts are changing their English grammar textbooks to accommodate woke ideology.  And here’s a little secret the Left doesn’t to discuss – since the planet’s creating roughly 20 billion people have lived on earth.   Interestingly not a single one was born with a Z chromosome; that’s right, every single human who has ever walked dthe earth has been born with either two X chromosomes or an X and a Y chromosome.  I fail to see how the woke have missed that fact.

The Insanity Continues 

• The US Census Bureau can no longer ask if you’re an American living in America
• Russians influencing our elections is a bad thing, but illegals voting in our elections is just fine.
• When Sleepy Joe was Vice President, it was OK to blackmail the then president of Ukraine, but it was an impeachable offense for Donald Trump to inquire about it.
• The “border czar,” i.e., Vice President Kamala Harris, has never been to the border; and come to think of it, neither has the president even though more people are entering this country illegally and bringing with them more fentanyl that at any time in history.
• Border security is too expensive but free health care for people coming here illegally is not.
• The progressive left demands that those who have never and will never own slaves should pay slavery reparations to people who have never been slaves.
• The left wants to hold people responsible for things that happened before they were born while other people are not held responsible for what they’re doing right now, such as the BLM protesters that killed dozens, injured thousands, and caused $2 billion in property damage.
• People who have never been to college should pay the debts of people who took out huge loans for their degrees.
• Doctors and engineers from Europe, Asia and Africa who want to immigrate to the U. S. must go through a rigorous vetting process but any illiterate gangbanger who jumps the southern fence is welcome.
• If you cheat to get into college you go to prison, but if you cheat to get into the country you go to college for free
• Progressives who say there is no such thing as gender demand that we elect women president.
• Socialism has never succeeded in improving the standard of living for people anywhere or at any time, yet socialistic policies seem like a great idea to the Left.
• In a world that depends on energy we have a president who’s trying to eliminate our primary source of energy before we have a source of energy to replace it.
• Progressive courts release criminals to kill, maim, or rape again, but keeping them incarcerated is bad because it’s a violation of their rights.
• 6% of the population commits 49% of the murders but commenting on it is racist.  (Although come to think of it, almost anything that displeases the left these days is considered racist by them.)
• And speaking of racist, COVID 19 arrived from China and like other such epidemics, (the Asian flu, the Hong Kong flu, etc.) it should have been named for its place of origin – but in today’s woke world it’s racist to refer to it as the Chinese virus even though it began in Wuhan China.

At my age these things will have little effect on the quality of my life.  But they will affect our kids and grandkids.  Unfortunately, in Bobbi’s and my case, they’re all “woke” and have lived relatively carefree lives due to the blessings afforded them by this country—they just don’t see it.
