Occam’s Razor, a principle attributed to the 14th century friar, William of Occam, states that in explaining a thing no more assumptions should be made than are necessary.  It’s a principle that recommends searching for explanations constructed with the smallest possible set of elements.  Said differently,  if you have two competing ideas to explain the same phenomenon, you should prefer the simpler one.

Meanwhile, the following is a quote from Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States.  “… It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so,”   the operative phrase being, “that they know so many things that aren’t so.” And one of those things is the United States Constitution.

Consider, vis-à-vis  the Thirteen Amendment, the Civil Rights Act of 1866, the Fourteenth Amendment, the Fifteenth Amendment, the Civil Rights Act of 1871, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Civil Rights Act of 1968 and the Fair Housing Act of the same year, why are Joe Biden’s DEI mandates even necessary?  So why convolute things and make things more chaotic when laws already exist?  While not an exact analogy, DEI does nothing other than perpetuate a culture of victimhood that’s become the bedrock of democrat ideology.  This is virtue signaling for the benefit of two voting constituencies, minorities and women.

Most know that United Airlines has gone woke and announced a goal to ensure women and people of color comprise half of its new pilot trainees by the year 2030; but at what cost?  DEI policies aren’t about “fairness,” (whatever that means), rather DEI removes merit as a means of entrance or advancement, replacing it with lower standards and focusing on the things that do not matter, i.e., sex, skin color and ethnic background.

And it’s a fact that every time affirmative action has been employed in this country, standards have been lowered; and if there’s an instance where that has not occurred, I invite you to email me at bmazz68@icloud.com. and prove me wrong.  I’m a former aviator, and I can tell you there are good pilots and people who shouldn’t be in the air, and I have never given a second thought about the quality of the men and women in the cockpit when I’ve flown.  But now whenever I see a black pilot, I know I’m going to wonder how qualified this individual is.  It’s only human nature to wonder if he or she were selected because of their skin color or their competency.  At the same time, I find it ironic that DEI policies only further negative stereotypes.  Of course, black pilots can fly as well as anyone else, but because of DEI, many people will wonder.

Good arguments can be made that the primary reason the U.S. military is having such a difficult time recruiting are the woke DEI policies that have been foisted on them, first by Obama and now Biden.  By the way, lowering the standards in the military is going to come back to haunt us – and believe me, it’s not a matter of if, but when.

And why is it that at Harvard University white and Asian students have to score 200 to 300 points higher on the SAT than comparable Pacific Islander, Native Americans or black students to be accepted?  I cannot answer that question, but the really scary thing is that this is happening at schools across the board.  It’s occurring in medical schools, in surgical practice and now with the airlines.  DEI has elevated race and gender above competency.

Imagine that your wife or husband is going into a surgery when a very woke head nurse boasts that her surgeon was hired because of DEI policies.  Do you think you’d say something like, “Great, diversity is our strength!” or might you want the best surgeon available?   t I suspect if most of us (even woke liberals) were hospitalized, we would prefer that hiring quotas were predicated on qualification and experience rather than skin color and gender.   And why does United Airlines care about the color or sex of their pilots; shouldn’t they just want the most competent pilots?  Suppose you’re flying from Vegas to Chicago, do you think you’d feel safe when you hit turbulence knowing that your pilot was hired because of ethnicity or skin color?

Barack Obama said Fundamental change was coming to America – he was prophetic.  Biden has stewarded the Obama philosophy and if he is re-elected in November I truly fear for this country.  This isn’t about democracy, this is about the survival of the vision of the Founders.

Thought for the day: Why is it liberals never apologize when their wrong, but instead search for quotes to support their ideology?
